Institute of Free Technology Jobs

The Institute of Free Technology is a startup studio focused on technology for privacy and digital rights. It helps projects move from an idea toward a usable product by providing financial, technical, legal, people operations and brand support. The institute’s website names Logos, Status, Keycard and Nimbus in its portfolio. It says the organization emerged from Status, a project founded by Jarrad Hope and Carl Bennetts in 2017 to support private and secure communication. As Status grew, the founders saw a need for additional infrastructure that would reflect their approach to privacy, security and censorship resistance. The Institute and the projects it supports grew from that wider scope. Its site lists more than 220 contributors, which is a contributor count rather than a formal employee headcount. The institute says its aim is to support public goods that defend civil liberties online. The live role on Blockchain Jobs Board gives the specific team, duties and location for the current opening.
